Day Six: Fall in Love with Poker

Day Six: Fall in Love with Poker

GO ALL IN WITH GAMEPOINT POKER!

One of the most popular card games in the world is also one of the most popular card games at GamePoint. GamePoint Poker regularly tops the charts of most played games on GamePoint and with good reason since it's one of the most exciting games we have. Playing Poker today results in even MORE excitement than usual with the special 'Fall in Love with GamePoint' Poker event badge AND an extra Coin gift.

Just a quick refresher for the people that haven't played Poker before or decided to take some time off from one of the best card games around:

GamePoint’s Poker is Texas Hold’em style where two to nine players compete for the Pot (Coins that players bet). Each player may use any combination of the five community cards and their own two hole cards to make a Poker hand. The winner of the round is the player with the best card combination.

Basic rules of the game:

1. Join a game of Limit, No Limit or participate in a Sit & Go Tournament.
2. Each player receives two face-down cards as their hole cards.
3. Players with small and big blinds automatically place bets. Afterwards, players can call, raise or fold.
4. Dealer places three face-up community cards on the table and players can then bet, check, raise or fold
5. Players are each dealt a fourth community card (called the turn) followed by a third betting round.
6. Players are each dealt a fifth community card (called the river) followed by a fourth betting round.
7. Once five cards are dealt and completing players remain, a final round starts. Players who bet or raised last must show their cards (called a showdown). The player with the highest card combination wins the Pot.

Sit & Go:
Sit & Go starts as soon as nine players join a game. Each player pays the same amount of Coins to participate in the tournament. The player who wins every chip on the table wins the Sit & Go, and the top three to win Coins!

Poker hand ranks (highest to lowest):
1. Straight Flush: Five cards in numerical order, all of identical suits (ex: Q♣ J♣ 10♣ 9♣ 8♣). The best possible straight flush is a royal flush, which consists of the ace, king, queen, jack and ten of the same suit.
2. Four of a Kind: Four cards of the same rank, and one side card or ‘kicker’ (ex: 9♣ 9♠ 9♦ 9♥ J♥).
3. Full House: Three cards of the same rank and two cards of a different, but also matching rank (ex: 3♣ 3♠ 3♦ 6♣ 6♥).
4. Flush: Five cards of the same suit (ex: Q♣ 10♣ 7♣ 6♣ 4♣).
5. Straight: Five cards in sequence (ex: Q♣ J♠ 10♠ 9♥ 8♥).
6. Three of a kind: Three cards of the same rank, and two unrelated side cards (ex: 2♦ 2♠ 2♣ K♠ 6♥).
7. Two pair: Two cards of a matching rank, another two cards of a different matching rank, and one side card (ex: J♥ J♣ 4♣ 4♠ 9♥).
8. One pair: Two cards of a matching rank, and three unrelated side cards. (ex: 4♥ 4♠ K♠ 10♦ 5♠).
9. High card: Any hand that does not qualify under a category listed above. (ex: K♥ J♥ 8♣ 7♦ 4♠).

If it's been a while since you played, quite a few things have changed. We:

  • Updated the way the chat looks (December 2014)
  • Introduced a new wider game design (November 2014)
  • Added newly designed buttons to Fold/Call/Raise based on player feedback (September 2014)
  • Quickened game matching by removing Coin values (August 2014)
  • Received lots of media coverage about our launch (for example on Gamasutra, TightPoker, RecentPoker and CalvinAyre) (August 2014)
  • Switched from Java to Flash (July 2014)
  • Disabled the old room list so players can choose their room from in-game (July 2014)
  • Gave first time players an easy start screen, making it easier to start their first game (July 2014)

During events, Poker was visited by pumpkins for Halloween and during Winter Wonder Week and players were eligible for winning prizes during our giveaways just for playing Poker.

We hope you'll join us in Poker today!

Whats going on with all the games are we going to be reimbursed. Must have been 1000 hits of complaints in 2 mins between that and forever losing games through disconnection, pretty disappointed

Hi ValTither1,

1000000% of course the stakes (Coins) will be reimbursed for the games that were forcefully closed last night (forcefully closed meaning that the game ended without a winner being determined). In the meantime, our tech team is currently investigating exactly what caused the issues from last night so that they're not repeated. Thanks for your patience!

Played two super games that all players' cards would not daub. Pots were being won by single winners so seems many rooms had same problem occur. These were in 50 & 10 room between 5:30-6:00 MST, USA
would at very least want refund of 350 coins lost. Would be a sign of good will if GP gave an extra 500 coins as everyone lost chance to win in super.
